Richard Sailors

Richard Sailors recently joined Benchmark Home Loans in Chattanooga as a loan officer. He chose Benchmark due to the reputation it has created in locally in across the nation as an industry leader in mortgages and VA home loans. The values of respect and integrity demonstrated by the Chattanooga team made for a good fit for Richard. The culture of the branch made for an easy transition. It is a place where veterans, clients, and employees are treated at the highest levels. Being a citizen-Soldier, Richard needs a culture and team that will support him during his time of duty. Not just during, but leading up to and upon return. As a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard, he is presented with unique challenges as a mortgage professional. It is vital to be attached to a team that will support him in the way most needed.

Richard is passionate about educating and taking care of his comrades. It seemed clear to Richard that Benchmark looks and treats veterans special. There is a lot of misinformation about VA loans from professionals in the industry and among many veterans. He wants to take his understanding to those who could benefit from the product. He has expertise with other conforming loan types, but he has a special purpose providing service to veterans, also.

Richard’s career started after graduating from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in the mortgage industry as a loan officer before he transitioned to real estate as a REALTOR. During his time as a loan officer, he enlisted into the Army National Guard and eventually commissioned. Currently, he is serving in the reconnaissance squadron of the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment as an Armor and Cavalry Officer.

Richard is married to Whitney and live in Chattanooga, TN where they raise their four children: RD(7), Savannah(6), Lizzie(4), and Caleb(2). They also have a German Shepherd named Pita and a Russian Blue cat named Slug (because when they adopted the cat, RD named her and said because she looked like a slug). During his free time Richard enjoys creating memories with his family, playing golf, and floating down the Hiwassee River. As much as possible, you will find him at Windstone GC swimming in the pool with his family and playing 18 holes.
